Bent at the Spine by Nicole Markotic (ePub Digital Download)

Details

ePub format for Kobo and iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch.

"you" is a disconnected third party - the reader is left in the position of an eavesdropper, or a listener, or a karmasurplus author. Its relentless interrogation resonates at an invigorating pace: cultural difference, different bodies, diffident accents, deafening rhymes. Sometimes rapturous, often vulvy, the poems audaciously teach "you" how to read them, allowing the last-minute-cram-session to be a delving, a plunging, a repeating discovery.

A Step in the Right Direction by Morten Sondergaard (Translated by Barbara Haveland) ePub Digital Download

Details

ePub format for Kobo and iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch.

In A Step in the Right Direction, Søndergaard continues a line of thought he first developed in Bees Die Sleeping and continued in Vinci, Later (which was published in English in 2005). This new collection is "about" walking. It contains four major cohesive songs or cantos, each of which explores the act of walking from a different point of view: as a social activity, as an act of love, as a condition for thought, and as inspiration for art.

Tuft by Kim Minkus (ePub Digital Download)

Details

ePub format for Kobo and iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch

With Tuft, Kim Minkus takes us on flights of poetic fancy into futures where we "observe the green elite" and "iceplants bloom in the monotony of paved paths." We tangle and climb into language and are swept into the lives of the animals that haunt the shores of our city's waterways. This is a world where worker, lover, animal and poet unite.

Virtualis: Topologies of the Unreal by David Dowker & Christine Stewart - ePub Digital Download

Details

ePub format for Kobo and iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch.

Virtualis: Topologies of the Unreal is a poetic investigation of melancholia and the baroque. As a collaborative reading of writers such as Walter Benjamin, Christine Buci-Glucksmann, Giorgio Agamben, Gilles Deleuze, Charles Baudelaire and Arthur Rimbaud, David Dowker and Christine Stewart have created a series of linguistic interjections that run from the allegorical barricades of the baroque to the topological confound of the modern, incorporating (for example) Medusa and the Sphinx, aestivating snails and the alchemy of bees. Lush and extravagant, this is writing tuned in to the terrestrial spectacle.

fur(l) parachute by Shannon Maguire (ePub Digital Download)

Details

Finalist for the 2014 Goldie Awards: Poetry Category

ePub format for Kobo and iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch.

fur(l) parachute claims as its surrogate the Old English poem “Wulf and Eadwacer.” Declining from a mutant echo of this nineteen-line fragment that appears in the tenth century Exeter manuscript as a text that might be a riddle, or an example of a woman’s lament, or even a broken elegy, the language of fur(l) parachute is further disrupted by such texts as instructions on how to make a parachute lure for fly fishing or the misreading of mathematical knot diagrams. Wryly troubling origins, this poem multiplies its outlawed longing for all that cannot cross.

PETRARCH by Tim Atkins

Details

New British Poets No. 2

Who is this Petrarch? Who is this Tim Atkins? He is an English poet profoundly affected by the American ear of the 1970s to present. These are meant to be translations, but they are more akin to transformations of everything Atkins has ever read or done, including what he saw at breakfast. In that way, they are Buddhist reckonings with the daily, not unlike Joanne Kyger's or Philip Whalen's recordings of microfluctuations in perception.

The Red Album by Stephen Collis (PDF Digital Download)

Details

PDF format for PDF Readers.

In the tradition of Borges, Nabakov, and Bolaño, The Red Album is a work of fiction that questions historical authenticity and authority. Divided into two parts, the book begins with an edited and footnoted narrative of dubious origins. In the second part, a section of "documents" (including essays, memoirs, a short play and a filmography) shed light on the first narrative. Familiar characters are revealed to be writers, and the writer and editors of the initial narrative are revealed to be characters. As the ghosts of social revolutions of the past are lifted from the soil in Catalonia, and a new revolution unfolds in South America, the number of mysteriously missing author/characters grows almost as fast as new author/ characters emerge and complicate and scatter the threads of the story.

A is a work of fiction in which André Alexis presents the compelling narrative of Alexander Baddeley, a toronto book reviewer obsessed with the work of the elusive and mythical poet Avery Andrews. I Don't Know How to Behave by Michael Blouin

Details

Department of Narrative Studies No. 10

I Don't Know How To Behave combines the true story of Canadian daredevil and stunt driver ken Carter (1938-1983) with imagined biographical elements from the lives of Canadian film director Bruce Mcdonald and Canadian poet gillian sze. Along the way, this quintessential Canadian story crashes head first into many related things, from screenplay theory to hip hop history to the story of early Canadian film to drawings to photographs to bank robberies to chaos theory to technical specs for detroit muscle cares to re-imagined movies to imagined documentary to advertisements to newspaper interviews to instructions for making molotov cocktails to evel kneivel to steve McQueen's Bullitt to self-help tomes to "rappers delight" to online instructions for how to publish a book, such as the one you are about to read called I Don't Know How to Behave by Michael Blouin.
